Marga and Ian on holiday / Marga e Ian de vacaciones

Marga left last sunday to go on holiday in Granada, her home-town. I'll be joining them next thursday. In the meantime she sent me this photo of herself with the l'il slugger.

Marga se fue el domingo pasado de vacaciones en Granada, su pueblo. Yo me voy el jueves que viene. Mientras tanto me envió esta foto de ella y el bicho.

Ian, butt-naked and po'd / Ian, en pelotas y cabreado

Nothing to talk about really. Just took this photo of Ian after his bath, before I put his diaper on, and wrap him in his pajamas. Thought it was a pretty funny picture. (He's not po'd, by the way ...) All is well here in Bcn. New job for me (it sucks), Catalan tests for Marga (She passed!) And Ian ... still not crawling but he is drooling a lot. We're ok.


No tenemos muchas noticias. Acabo de sacar esta foto de Ian, después de su baño y antes de que le ponga su pijama. Es divertida, la foto. (No está cabreado, por cierto ...) Todo bien aquí en Bcn. Trabajo nuevo para mi (no me gusta nada), y examenes de Catalan para Marga (Ha aprobado!) E Ian ... aún no gatea pero babea mogollón.

Long Time Gone / Perdidos en la Mancha

Hello everyone and sorry for the delay. It's not entirely our fault. We were on vacation in Granada, true, but when we got back on the 30th of december we discovered we had no phone or internet service. We had requested the change in november, and our old provider shut down our phone on the 23rd of december but for one reason or another the new provider hadn't hooked us up. Three weeks later we have internet! So here are a couple photos from the holidays. One is Marga's "Christmas", the spanish word for Christmas card. Don't ask me. The other is a shot taken on Christmas Eve at Marga's parents' house of Ian and his 9 cousins. Anyway, we are back Barcelona now, back to work, back to life. Stay tuned, now that we have internet we'll be posting more often!

Hola a todos, perdonad nuestra ausencia. No tenemos toda la culpa. Estabamos de vacaciones en Granada, eso es cierto, pero cuando volvimos en día 30 de diciembre descubrimos que ya no teníamos ni teléfono ni internet. Pedimos el cambio de proveedor en noviembre, y nuesto proveedor antiguo cortó la línea el día 23 de diciembre pero por motivos que aún desconocemos nuestro proveedor nuevo no nos dio de alta. Tres semanas después tenemos internet! Aquí tenéis un par de fotos de las fiestas navideñas. Una es el "Christmas" que hizo Marga. La otra es una foto de noche vieja de Ian y sus 9 primos, en la casa de los padres de Marga. En fin, estamos ya en Barcelona, hemos vuelto a trabajar, la vida normal. De todos modos, ahora que tenemos internet estaremos subiendo fotos más a menudo.

Cold Chillin' in the Crib ... Literally / Haciendo el Vago en Casa

This weekend is the last one before we take off to Granada on wednesday. Marga and I have been busy all weekend cleaning the flat so we don't come home to a pig sty on our return. Ian, in the meantime, chose to spend the weekend chilling out to the cool sounds of Rufus Wainwright.

Este fin de semana es el último antes de que nos marchemos a Granada. Marga y yo hemos estado todo el fin de limpiando el piso para que cuando volvamos no esté todo hecho un asco. Ian, mientras tanto, ha elegido pasar el fin de haciendo el vago, escuchando Rufus Wainwright.

Ian and his Sippy Cup / Ian y su Vaso Anti-Goteo

Marga recently bought Ian a "Sippy cup", you know, the kind that don't spill when children throw them on the ground? The thinking was, "This boy needs to start drinking water." We thought Ian might have problems seeing has he'd never drank from anything but a bottle. And sure enough, the look on his face the first couple times he used it was one of "Hey! This isn't milk?!" and "Where's my cereal!!??" But after a few tries his mouth started opening as soon as he saw it and before long he was holding the cup himself and slurping down the water like someone who had just spent a month in the Sahara.

Esta semana Marga le compró a Ian un vaso anti-goteo, ¿sabes? de esos que no pierden agua cuando los tiran al suelo? Pensábamos, "Este niño tiene que empezar a beber agua." Pensábamos que Ian tendría problemas porque sólo había bebido de biberón. Y cierto que la cara que ponía al principio era como si dijera "¡Oye! ¡Esto no es leche!" y "¿Dónde están mis cereales?" Pero tras unos intentos empezó a abrir la boca al ver el vaso y al poco tiempo aguantaba el vaso él solito y sorbiendo el agua como alguien que acabara de pasar un mes en el sáhara.

A Martín Family Visit and Ian Goes French / Una Visita de la Familia de Marga e Ian se Vuelve Francés

Marga's sister and her sister's friend Vito (Victoria) are here this week for a visit from Granada. They come bearing gifts, a new suit for Ian complete with faux-beret. Well ok, it's not really french. Decide for yourselves.

Cristina, la hermana de Marga y su amiga Vito (Victoria) están aquí de visita esta semana de Granada. Nos han traido un traje nuevo para Ian con beret y todo. Bueno, no es exactamente francés, pero bueno.

Well well well. So everyone and their brother has a blog. What's different about this one? Well, it's about or son, Ian, that's what's different. Ian was born on may 18th, 2005, which makes him about six-and-a-half months old at the time of the creation of this blog. We won't promise updates every day, we'll try to make it at least once a week though, whenever something new or interesting happens in his life. That way at least we'll put our digital camera to some use.

Anyway, that's the dope. Enjoy!

Bueno bueno. Todo el mundo estos días tiene un "blog". ¿Qué hay diferente en este blog? Pues, que aquí encontrarás todo lo que hay nuevo sobre nuestro hijo Ian. Ian nació el día 18 de mayo, 2005 y tiene unos seis meses y medio. No prometemos actualizaciones todos los días, intentaremos poner algo al menos una vez a la semana, cuando haya algo nuevo o interesante en su vida. Así usamos nuestra cámera digital.
